Young Mens Twin Game Trip

Both years now the Twins have lost. Last night against the White Sox, 3-8. Over 40, 000 fans and dollar dogs were gone by 1st inning. We all left at 4:45pm and got home at almost 1am. Lots of fun and friends on the trip. Here are some photos of the group. Gunnar, Rex, Andrew, Jeff, Wayne, Ashley, David, Eric, Lisa and Qatar. Then friends Jordan, Goetz, Andrew, Alec, Jacob and Jacobs dad who met us up there. We drove up a full van(Whites) and Wayne supplied the tickets. They may have lost, but the stadium was packed.
By the start of the game the upper deck was almost full. People everywhere.

Creator of CTR ring dies at 91

You probably don't know the man, the late Douglas Coy Miles, but you likely

know his famous designs of the CTR Ring, the Duty to God award, Relief

Society pendant, all-church athletic trophies and Articles of Faith wall

hangings — commemorative fixtures in The Church of Jesus Christ of

Latter-day Saints.

Mr. Miles, 91, died July 4, 2008 of congestive heart failure.

He was the principal originator and supplier of the CTR ring, starting in

1970.

110 Degrees in the Shade

Steven Bremner, Mark White Jr, and Gunnar Peters are in the Summerset production of 110 Degrees in the Shade this week at the college. It is a funny show with lots of singing and dancing. Steven lights up the stage, as Starbuck, with his big eyes and hugely expressive face. While singing Melisand in a rehersal, Steven fell over to rest and one of the older cast members commented, "He never did that when he played Lancelot." Steven needed to remind him that that was 16 years, college, mission, marriage, five kids, and a few pounds ago.

Mark is very good as, Noah, the angry, pessimistic, older brother, he also gets to sing quite a bit.

Gunnar is in the chorus, as Freddi, and gets his arms moving during the songs and he gets to dance with a very pretty girl.
Come see it if you can. 7:30pm until Sat. July 26th.

Interesting Quote

From the Pope's visit to Australia.

"In so many of our societies, side by side with material prosperity, a
spiritual desert is spreading: an interior emptiness, an unnamed fear, a
quiet sense of despair," the pontiff said.

The aim was "a new age in which hope liberates us from the shallowness,
apathy and self-absorption which deadens our souls and poisons our
relationships," he said.
